Suji idlis

Brief Description

South Indian cuisine is known for its healthy recipes and rava idli (suji idli) is one of the simple recipe which combines the goodness of many dals and spices. It’s not just healthy and irresistible but also very easy to prepare too.


Rawa: 1 cup (40g)
Curd: ¼ cup (10g)
Coriander: 1tsp
Mustard seeds (rai): ¼ tsp
Jeera: ½ tsp
Urad dal: 1 tsp
Asafetida (hing): ¼ tsp
Curry leaves: 2 -3 in no
Green chillies, chopped: ¼ tsp
Oil:1 tsp
Salt: from the prescribed daily allowance

Combine rawa, curd, coriander, salt and 1 cup water in a bowl.
Mix well and keep aside for 10 mins.
Heat 1tsp oil, add mustard seeds (rai) and jeera.
When seeds crackle, add urad dal, asafetida (hing) , urryleaves and green chillies.
Add this tempering to the batter and mix well.
Grease idli moulds with little oil and pour the batter.
Steam the idlis for around 10 -15 mins.
