Kidney Care Lab · The Diagnostic Arm of AKC : NABL · MC-2729
A lab built around patient with kidney ailments.
Apex Kidney Care Pathology Lab is Apex Kidney Care's in-house diagnostic arm — a NABL-accredited renal diagnostics laboratory, equipped with the world's leading instrumentation, integrated directly into AKC's Axis EMR. Most labs hand over a result. KCL hands over a trend.
When the lab and the dialysis centre share a database, medicine changes.
Most dialysis networks send their patients to outside diagnostic labs. The lab returns a PDF report, the patient brings it back to the next consultation, the nephrologist reads it once, and the data lives in a folder somewhere — disconnected from every other test that patient has ever had.
KCL was built on the opposite premise. Every test we run on an AKC patient flows directly into Axis EMR — the same system holding their dialysis prescriptions, their home HD records, their vascular access history, and every blood test they have ever had with us. The result becomes a data point in a continuous timeline.
That changes what the nephrologist sees. Not “the latest haemoglobin” — but the patient's haemoglobin trend over twelve months, with the EPO dose changes and the iron studies overlaid. Not “the latest PTH” — but where this patient sits across the cohort of AKC dialysis patients with similar risk profiles.
Most labs hand over a result. KCL hands over a result, a trend, a cohort comparison, and a flag if something's drifting. That is what an in-house lab for a nephrology institution should actually do.
Five steps. One institution.
Here's what happens when you give a blood sample at an AKC centre — from the moment the needle leaves your arm to the moment your nephrologist sees a meaningful pattern.
At your AKC dialysis centre, the KCL collection point, or your home via the home collection team.
The 24/7 logistics chain moves samples to KCL's central processing lab in Goregaon — tracked end-to-end.
Tests run on NABL-accredited platforms from Ortho Clinical, Roche, Sysmex, Tosoh, and Vitech.
Results flow directly into Axis EMR — no PDF, no manual re-entry, no transcription error. Patient timeline updates in real time.
Nephrologists see longitudinal trends, cohort comparisons, and automatic flags — not just the latest value.
This is the operational difference between a third-party lab and an institutional diagnostic arm. Same sample. Different value extracted from it.
Every panel a nephrology patient actually needs.
KCL's panels are designed by AKC nephrologists for the realities of Indian renal care. Apex-branded packages cover every stage of the patient journey — from early CKD screening through dialysis monitoring, transplant work-up, and post-transplant follow-up. The full list, organised below.

KCL is equipped with the world's leading diagnostic platforms across biochemistry, haematology, immunoassay, transfusion medicine, and molecular diagnostics. Every analyser is connected to our LIS, and from LIS directly into Axis EMR.
Quality & Accreditation
NABL-accredited. Audited continuously.
Kidney Care Lab is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) — certificate MC-2729. NABL accreditation requires demonstrated adherence to ISO 15189 standards covering technical competence, quality management, traceability, and result reliability.
Beyond the accreditation, KCL operates a Code of Conduct built on five values that the team is held to every day. These are the principles the laboratory was set up on, and they govern every interaction — from a patient's first sample collection to the nephrologist receiving the result.

Three ways to book a test.
Whether you prefer to walk into the lab, have a phlebotomist visit your home, or come in for the test during your dialysis session at an AKC centre — we cover all three.
Walk into the lab
Visit our central processing lab in Goregaon East, Mumbai or one of the KCL collection points. Walk-in, no appointment needed. Reports are ready within the published turnaround window for each test.
Home collection
A trained phlebotomist visits your home at a scheduled time. Especially useful for elderly patients, post-transplant patients, and routine monitoring. Sample collected, logistics handled, result reaches you and your nephrologist automatically.
During dialysis
If you are an AKC dialysis patient, your monthly bloodwork is collected during your dialysis session itself — no extra visit needed. Results flow straight into your Axis EMR record for your nephrologist to review at the next visit.
